Skin Cancer Foundation updates its Skin Cancer Facts

The Skin Cancer Foundation has updated its Skin Cancer Facts.  First on the list of skin cancer facts is the significant fact that skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States with incidence of skin cancer reaching to over a million diagnosed per year.  The costs for treating skin cancer rose to over a billion dollars in 2004.  The Skin Cancer Foundation specifically states that the incidence of melanoma skin cancer is rising at a rate above the seven most common cancers.  The sobering facts continue:



The positive note is that, if it is caught in the early stages, the survival rate for melanoma is 99%.  Unfortunately, if it reaches the lymph nodes the survival rate drops to 15%.  The facts continue and include specific data relating to men/women, indoor tanning, pediatrics, and ethnicity.  For more information visit The Skin Cancer Foundation?s website at www.skincancer.org
